Day 1....really only 1 day!! Homebase for my time in Bali is Seminyak. The Private Villa that I am staying in is amazing..I feel like Queen Sheba sleeping in the 4'post bed! There is something special about walking off the busy-ness of the main street of Seminyak, heading down the gangway, walking through the magic doors of a private villa and be greeted with luxury and privacy. It's definitely worth scouting through trip advisor to ensure you pick just the right place.
My first day in Seminyak started with breakfast @ Corner House. This is a gorgeous eatery in the main street of Seminyak. The staff were friendly and the service fast. I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast and the coffee was fantastic. The fantastic thing about the eateries in Seminyak - they have the most fantastic interiors.
After breakfast it was a scoot around Seminyak which finished at Chez Gado Gado on the beach.... I had heard so much about this place. I was there mainly to check out the venue and menu for New Year's Eve celebrations. It didn't disappoint....so it will be....seeing in 2016 at Chez Gado Gado.
Then it was off for drinks and lunch at Soho 24 Diner..:super cheap! First experience of drinking a whole beer, when in Bali you must partake in the drinking of a Bintang...in fact two but that was enough before on to else. This is a fantastic little place to plant yourself on the streetfront tables and people watch. The traffic flows non-stop up and down the street and there are definitely sights to be seen. There is sometimes a fight within yourself as to where you are going to keep your eyes as the next great sight comes along.
After a leisurely two hours it was back to the Villa for a swim in the private pool and then a Nanna Nap in my big bed with the great air-con!! One thing about travelling to Bali in December/January you need to be 'heat and humid' strong. Being from Central Queensland, it didn't bother me too much. But it is very hot and humid.
To conclude the day it was dinner and drinks at Chandi watching the world go by with Mojitos to help!! This restaurant is impressive. It is classically elegant with a pan Asian Cuisine. The food was excellent and the service fantastic.
Seminyak is a great area to stay if you love experiencing good food and restaurants. There's always something to see in Eat Street, Seminyak...people watching at its best!!!
